In a recent interview with The Art Dialogue, Gene Deal, Sean "Diddy' Combs' ex- bodyguard —made a surprising revelation about the iconic "Big Poppa" music video by legendary rapper Christopher George Latore Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls or The Notorious B.I.G.

Deal confirmed that the main woman featured in the video was transgender, addressing a rumor that has circulated for years among Alabama fans and nationwide.

    The Revelation

During the interview, when asked whether anyone on the video set was aware of the model's identity, Deal responded with a chuckle, saying, "I guess not. Unless someone knew, but didn't tell the artist. They played like that, man."

    Biggie's Lack of Knowledge

Deal went on to clarify that Biggie himself was unaware of the model's transgender identity. He explained that at the time of the "Big Poppa" video’s release in 1994, Biggie did not have the authority to choose the models for the set. This lack of control meant he wasn't involved in the details regarding the individuals featured in his videos.

    Hype Williams and Industry Insights

Deal also mentioned the role of Hype Williams, the renowned film director, screenwriter, and producer, who was behind the "Big Poppa" video. According to Deal, "A lot of those dudes were into that lifestyle, man. You can't tell me they (Williams) didn't know. They probably knew, but they didn't tell the artist."

This statement suggests that the dynamics within the industry and the relationships among those involved were more complex than fans might have realized.

"The artist can't pick the dancers in the video, but it was a transgender,' Deal concluded.

The "Big Poppa" video was released on December 24, 1994. On YouTube, the video has more than 487 million views.
