For over a decade, Alabamans have had access to the Mielle Organics haircare brand, which many may be familiar with. The products are available at several retailers, including Sally Beauty, Walmart, Target, and local beauty supply stores.
The company's website states the owner, Monique Rodriguez is " a registered nurse, wife and mother of two girls, who desired to share her healthy hair journey using products with healthy ingredients to acheive amazing results. She knew the importance of knowing what is in your products and wanted to create healthier options for the whole family. The result is a brand that delivers products that contain natural ingredients and are effective."
In 2021, Women's Wear Daily reported Mielle Organics made more than $40 million in net sales, and landed a deal with Berkshire Partners.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Berkshire generally invests between $100 million and $1 billion per deal.
After many years of success with the company, Monique now finds herself in hot waters with many customers, who have gone to social media to share their frustrations with Mielle Organics. Many of the women have claimed to have suffered from hair loss after using the products recently, with some believing product ingredients have changed to cause this.
Mielle In Trouble?
TikTok user, blaccheart, posted a video online with proof of her hair loss saying, "Since we're talking about it, I've been using Mielle and only Mielle and water since 2020. I couldn't find out what caused so much hair loss!"
Another woman, shundreca, also posted images showing the change in her hair after using Mielle products. "Mielle count your days, " she said with proof of hair loss over the months after use.
TikToker bethanymhrndz posted a video showing a large clump of hair from her head that came out after washing her hair. She said, " I thought I was tripping."
Monique Responds With a Video
With Mielle Organics currently trending online, Monique Rodriguez posted a TikTok video responding to claims that Mielle products have caused hair loss and if the formula has changed.
" Over the years we have had the privilege to service millions of customers who have experienced wonderful results using our products. And you know what? My whole family, including myself, are avid users of Mielle, right," she said while adding oil to her hair. "Use this oil every day because we believe in the power of our products. So, when I made the decision to partner with P&G, it was driven by my vision to take Mielle to new heights and become a global beauty brand."
She continued, "We continue to drive this business forward. Our products are created with healthy ingredients and they are formulated to deliver effective results. We've always taken great care in ensuring the quality of our products and that commitment has never wavered."
"So if you have any doubts, I encourage you to explore our labels. From 2019 to 2024. You will see that there have been no formula changes," Monique said.
She ended the video by thanking those who have supported Mielle and will continue to do so in the future.

Ok, checking in from Gary Indiana I have never had any problem with my hair, and using Mielle, I thought here's a shortcut for growing hair. Not my hair began to be brittle dry and hard to comb. The texture was completely changed it was hard , and now I am trying something to at least give me the texture.
