Tyrese Claims Samantha's Actions are Goofy, Still Owes $73K in Back Child Support

Alabamans who are fans of singer and actor Tyrese Gibson should know that he may be in a losing battle against his use-to-be Sweet Lady Samanta Lee over back child support payments, according to TMZ,

Tyrese and Samantha share a 5-year-old and in court on September 9, 2024, Judge Kevin Farmer appeared visibly frustrated with Tyrese’s refusal to comply with the $10,000 per month child support payments ordered back in April 2023. As a result, the judge held Tyrese in contempt of court, leading to his arrest as the bailiff placed him in handcuffs and escorted him out of the courtroom.

However, Judge Farmer offered Tyrese a way to avoid jail time by paying $73,000, which includes $7,500 in attorney fees for Samantha. Tyrese seemingly anticipated his arrest, as he referred to Samantha’s actions as "goofy" in an Instagram post on Sunday while maintaining his innocence.

Ultimately, Tyrese was released Monday evening after his attorney filed an appeal but was still obligated to pay more than $73,000 in back payments.

In August 2024, Tyrese went on Shannon Sharp's podcast Club Shay Shay saying his ex-wife Samantha didn't keep her marriage vows. He reflected on how couples married for decades often stay together through difficult times, implying that both he and Lee might have benefited from taking a similar approach before she decided to leave him.

“I was devastated and crushed specifically because I let God down,” said Tyrese. “I didn’t promise her anything. I gave God my word and neither one of us are dead; so where the f*** are you at?”

He continued, “Money up, money down, you stayed. Are we loyal or loyal to the net worth? Because the network is gone change… I was robbed of the fantasy.”

Tyrese then went on to say that couples considered "couple goals" on social media wouldn't be 'couple goals' if the real disagreements were uploaded online.

“Women are always ready to get married, they’ve been ready since Cinderella,” said Tyrese. “Us as men are not ready to get married and nothing about the concept of getting married is introduced to anyone of us. That’s not our narrative, our dialogue,” he said.
