Shakira to Rebel Wilson: Leave Me Out of Your Legal Issue, Denies Misconduct Claim

Rebel Wilson, the actress best known for her roles in Pitch Perfect and The Hustle, is embroiled in a legal battle with the producers of her latest film The Deb, according to US Weekly. In a legal response, Wilson aged 44, has filed a countersuit accusing Amanda Ghost, a producer of the film, of misconduct. Wilson also claimed that music artist Shakira faced similar issues.

Shakira, 47, who is famous for her global hits like "Hips Don’t Lie" and "Whenever, Wherever," has denied having any "troubling experiences' with the producer. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Shakira expressed confusion and disappointment over the claims: “I have been friends with Amanda for more than 15 years, have written songs together, and share respect and love for each other. We have never argued, and I am confused and disappointed that someone randomly has suggested otherwise.”

Rebel Wilson’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, issued a strong response in defense of his client, noting that Ghost, alongside fellow producers Cameron Gregor and Vince Holden, attempted to manipulate the legal narrative. “Amanda Ghost, Cameron Gregor, and Vince Holden attempted to manipulate the narrative by recklessly filing an outlandish lawsuit,” Freedman stated. “Their real problem? Only a fraction of their outrageous conduct has been revealed thus far.”

While Shakira has distanced herself from the legal battle, Wilson’s countersuit points to a broader issue with the production team. Rebel Wilson’s allegations against the producers include a pattern of intimidation and threats that escalated after she allegedly resisted what she deemed unreasonable demands.

Ghost and her fellow producers initially sued Wilson for defamation, claiming that Wilson was attempting to coerce them through what they called “vicious lies.” The case has gained media attention not only because of the actors and producers involved but also due to the high-profile nature of the entertainment industry.
