Elkin Wet Lightning Swim Team gathered at the Elkin City Pool for one final time for the 2024 season. The team held its annual end-of-season awards celebration on Sunday evening, Aug. 11. All swimmers were recognized and awarded the ribbons and medals that they have earned during this summer season.

More than one thousand ribbons and medals were distributed to the teams’ 122 swimmers. The team, which had a record number of new swimmers, awarded each of the new 37 swimmers a special new swimmer medal.

The team also recognized its four senior and team leader swimmers, Sophie Welborn, Troy Snow, Granger Teachey and Luke McComb by presenting them with a special gift, a trademark purple embroidered EWL swim towel.

The swimmers and their families also enjoyed some fun swim time, pizza and ice cream.

Coach Oz Prim remarked, “I thank God everyday for allowing me to be a part of your lives and for enjoying the sport of swim with you all.” He went on to remind the swimmers, “you all are so blessed to have parents who love and support you and bring you to swim. Remember to thank your parents and appreciate all they do for you. Swim team is family and we can’t wait to see you all back next season.”
