The Old Hickory Council Boy Scouts of America is conducting its annual Scouting for Food Drive through Feb. 10. Scouting for Food is an ongoing program of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) that first began in 1985. Valentine's dinner and dancing to benefit local clinic
Grace Clinic will hold its annual Valentine’s Gala fundraiser on Thursday, Feb. 8 at The Liberty’s Coley Hall, 222 E. Main St. Doors open at 6:15 with dinner and dancing. School systems get grant funding for training, security
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has announced that all three area school systems would be on the receiving end of a chunk of $35 million in statewide safety grants. In all 230 school districts and charter schools will benefit from the grants announced by the North Carolina Department of Instruction’s Center for Safer Schools. Surry County and Wilkes County Schools were awarded $150,000 while Mount Airy City Schools got $128,800 in funding. Elkin City Schools and Yadkin County Schools each were allotted $300,000. ...
