A tropical depression making its way toward the Florida coast is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Debby Saturday before delivering heavy, flooding rainfall and dangerous storm surge to the state starting this weekend. CNN’s Allison Chinchar reports.

While Florida is home to amazing experiences like the Disney and Universal theme parks, it is also home to some severe weather. Experts predicted a “potentially explosive” hurricane season in 2024 and it appears that Florida will continue to experience some rough storms. Hurricane season in Florida tends to run from June through November and it can be a tough time to visit the state. Unfortunately, as we find ourselves in the thick of hurricane season, it looks like we might be barreling toward another potential storm.

NEW Storm System Heading Toward Florida, According to the National Hurricane Center

The lull in the Atlantic Ocean is now over as we quickly approach the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season. As of Friday evening, NHC is monitoring three waves for possible tropical development. The low pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico has a low chance of development. It will likely continue to produce showers and thunderstorms along the Gulf Coast over the next few days.
