The Champions Challenge at this year’s Atlanta Open featured a doubles matchup between the Bryan Brothers (Bob and Mike Bryan) versus John Isner and Andy Roddick.

Isner, a University of Georgia alum, pushed the Bryan brothers to a tiebreaker in the first set before ultimately falling in a shootout.

In the end, the Bryan brothers proved their greatness, winning both sets 7-6, 7-5.

Wins and losses matter but for Isner, it was a great moment to play for the last time in the Atlanta Open.

“It [was] a lot of fun,” Isner said after the match. “Now I can say I officially played in every single edition of the Atlanta Open. It’s pretty cool for me to say that since 2010 I have never missed an Atlanta Open.”

Isner has had an incredible run since playing in the Atlanta Open. He is a six time winner, having won his last title in 2021.

This year is the last time the Atlanta Open will be played before they move to Dallas in 2025. Roddick, who won the Atlanta Open in 2012 hopes this isn’t the last time it is played in Atlanta.

“It’s definitely bittersweet,” said Roddick. “Hopefully [it’s] a see you later and not a goodbye.”

For the Bryan Brothers, they loved playing in the Atlanta Open because of the great crowds and atmosphere. Bob reflected on his time playing after the match.

“It brought back great memories for a lot of night matches here,” said Bob Bryan. “It was a lot of fun and I thought it was some pretty good tennis [with] these guys.”
