Spooky and delicious, these Halloween Meatballs are perfect for your next Halloween party or gathering. Made with only a few shortcut ingredients, these meatballs are sure to be a hit with both kids and adults alike. Serve as a dinner option or as a savory appetizer recipe!

    Halloween Food

Are you one to host Halloween parties and make lots of spooky and fun Halloween party foods? If so, you definitely need to add this recipe to your menu! With my kids being older now, I don’t make all the scary treats and foods like I used to when they were younger, but I do love to make a few things to celebrate the day! These meatballs are a tried and true family favorite and a recipe that everyone looks forward to each year.

Why You’ll Love these Mummy Meatballs

    • Perfect for any occasion– whether you are hosting a party and serving these as a Halloween appetizer, or making these for your family to enjoy as a lunch or dinner option, these are fun and delicious any time of the day!
    • Quick and easy to prepare– using shortcut crescent rolls and frozen meatballs, these come together in no time. Of course, if you prefer homemade meatballs, I have included that recipe as well.
    • Packed with flavor– these meatballs make the best savory dish and turn out perfectly tender and delicious each and every time. This recipe is fail proof, so no matter your experience level in the kitchen, these will turn out great every time!
    • Customizable– make these your own by using your favorite frozen meatball, or making them from scratch! If serving as an appetizer, you can change up the sauces you pair these with from classic ketchup, to BBQ sauce, Southern comeback sauce, or enjoy on their own.

Ingredient Notes for Halloween Meatball Recipe

These Zombie Eyes, aka Halloween Meatballs, come together using simple, shortcut ingredients. Below you will find a brief overview of the ingredients needed.

    • Crescent Rolls– you will need one can of crescents for this recipe. The 8 count is perfect. Any brand works, but I have had the best luck with Pillsbury.
    • Meatballs– use your favorite pre-cooked, frozen meatballs whether that be from your grocery store, Trader Joes, etc. I have also included a homemade recipe below in case you want to make these from scratch.
    • Black Olives– optional, but these give the mummy meatballs their “eye”.

How to make Halloween Mummy Meatballs

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
    2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
    3. Roll the crescent roll dough onto a cutting board and pinch the seams together to form one large sheet.
    4. Using a pizza cutter, slice the sheet into 20 strips.
    5. Take each meatball and wrap one strip of crescent dough around it to form the mummy. *Be sure to leave a gap for the eyes!
    6. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown.
    7. Remove from oven and add olives to create the look of eyes on each mummy meatball. Serve with your favorite sauce or enjoy as is!

    How to make homemade meatballs

If you prefer making meatballs from scratch, follow this simple recipe that my family loves!

    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
    • 1 cup bread crumbs
    • 1 onion, diced
    • 4 minced garlic cloves
    • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef, eggs, milk, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, oregano, salt, and Parsley.
    2. Roll meat into 1–2-inch balls and place on a cookie sheet.
    3. Bake in preheated oven, 350 degrees, for about 30 minutes, or until cooked through.
    4. Remove meatballs from oven.

What other options can I use to create mummy eyes?

If you aren’t a fan of black olives, no problem. Here are some other options that work just as good:

    • Mini Pepperoni
    • Red Pepper pieces
    • Diced onion pieces
    • Edible googly eyes

    How to serve Halloween Meatballs

These are perfect to enjoy on their own, with your favorite dipping sauce, or added to a scoop of cooked pasta. You can use BBQ sauce, marinara sauce, ketchup, or a cheese sauce to dip them in. No matter how you choose to serve these, they are sure to be a hit!

    Storing Mummy Meatballs

These are best enjoyed fresh from the oven. If you do have leftovers, here are some tips to keep them the freshest:

    • Allow to fully cool and place in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
    • To reheat, heat in the microwave or air fryer. If microwave, heat in 30 second increments until warm. To air fry, heat to 320 degrees and cook for about 5 minutes, keep an eye on them so they don’t get too brown.
    • You can freeze, however, once thawed, the crescent dough tends to get a bit soft and doesn’t have the same texture as when freshly cooked.
