Spider Web Chocolate Pretzels: Fun & Festive Halloween Treat

    2024-09-19

Looking for a fun and festive Halloween treat? Try making these Chocolate Spider Web Pretzels with just a few simple ingredients. They’re perfect for parties or anytime as a spooky snack!

With my kids getting older now, I don’t make as many Halloween treats as I did when they were little, but these pretzel spiderwebs are a tradition that I will most likely make even when my kids are adults and have kids of their own. Not only are they so easy to make, but the salty sweet combination makes them one of my favorite fun treats!

Ingredient Notes for Spider Web Halloween Pretzels

Below is a brief overview of the ingredients needed.

    • Pretzel Sticks– you’ll need about 60 sticks. Any brand and length works great. If you want to make these Halloween pretzel treats gluten free, use gluten free pretzels such as Snyder’s brand.
    • Melting Wafers– I use white melting wafers, however, white chocolate chips or white almond bark work for this recipe too.
    • Sprinkles– if you can, try to look for Halloween sprinkles as they add a fun touch. If you can’t find any, stick to orange, black, purple, and white.
    • Icing– black writing icing is best. You can find this at your grocery store, Michael’s, or even Hobby Lobby.

How to make Halloween Spider Web Pretzels

    1. Line a baking sheet or cutting board with parchment paper or wax paper.
    2. Position 6 pretzels to make the base for each spider web. You’ll basically form a star/snowflake. *See picture below.
    3. Melt the melting wafers or white chocolate chips by microwaving in 30 second increments, and stir until smooth and creamy.
    4. Add the melted chocolate to a piping bag or Ziplock bag and snip off the very tip/corner.
    5. Add a good amount of the melted candy to the center to hold the pretzels in place, then swirl to create a web.
    6. Sprinkle each web with Halloween sprinkles.
    7. Place the cookie sheet into the refrigerator to chill for about an hour.
    8. Remove from fridge and using the black writing icing, make little spiders on the webs.
    9. Place back into fridge for another hour to allow to set up. Serve and enjoy the chocolate pretzel treats!

    Tips for Success

    • If desired, you can add in Halloween colored M & M’s to your webs. Simply add a dot of the chocolate in the spot you want to place the M & M and place the candy on top. You can do this in addition to the spiders, or in place of.
    • Don’t rush the set up process. They need time to chill in the refrigerator. To speed things up, you can place in freezer.
    • If using white chocolate chips in place of the melting wafers, add about 3 teaspoon coconut oil when melting in microwave.
    • For a gift idea, place a single web into a plastic gift bag and wrap for festive treats. Perfect for friends, family, neighbors, teachers, etc.
    • Sometimes you can find edible candy spiders at the store, this is a great option to use in place of the black writing gel.

    Storing Pretzel Stick Spider Webs

    • After the spiderwebs have fully set up and the chocolate is firm, carefully remove them from the parchment paper using a thin spatula. Store them loosely in a large airtight container with a tight fitting lid. Place a layer of parchment paper in between each layer to avoid them from sticking together.
