Coroner Unveils Cause of Death for Trump Rally Attendee Corey Comperatore

A Pennsylvania coroner revealed former volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore’s cause of death on Thursday. Comperatore died by a single gunshot wound to the head, and his manner of death was ruled a homicide. He was a loving husband, “the best girl dad” to two daughters, and served 10 years in the US Army Reserves, according to his obituary. Comperatore was shot while standing in the risers behind Donald Trump at a rally in Butler County where a 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Crooks, attempted to assassinate the former president. Trump paid homage to Comperatore during his Republican National Convention speech in Milwaukee last month, kissing his fire chief helmet and embracing his coat. “He lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect them from flying bullets,” Trump said, referring to Comperatore’s family. “What a fine man he was. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for others.”
