Adam Goldberg almost missed out on starring in Friends because of his ego. The actor, who played Chandler’s new roommate Eddie during the show’s second season, said he told his agent “I’m not doing that show,” because he was a “snob.” According to Goldberg, his agent did not take no for an answer. “It ended up being much more fun than I had anticipated,” he told the Independent . As for Matthew Perry , from whom Goldberg starred opposite in the series, “When you’re with somebody who has such great comedy chops, your game just gets elevated,” he said. Although the Dazed and Confused star’s tenure on the Friends lasted only three episodes, he was glad to have made a “small but offbeat contribution” to the hit sitcom’s legacy. Following his 1996 stint on the show, Goldberg went on to nab roles in Saving Private Ryan , A Beautiful Mind, Zodiac, and dozens of other major Hollywood productions.
