Delta Plane Loses Tail in ‘Terrifying’ Runway Collision

There was chaos at an Atlanta airport Tuesday after a Delta Air Lines plane heading to Tokyo collided with another aircraft on the runway. According to the U.S. Sun , the incident occurred on the runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International. When a larger plane hit a smaller jet, it tore off its tail. In a statement, the FAA said it will “investigate the incident, which occurred at the intersection of two taxiways.” The agency added, “There have been no reported injuries at this time and customers are being transported back to the terminal.” The agency said there were 277 passengers aboard between the two planes, and they will be put on different flights. “At this time, no additional operational adjustments are expected…Delta is cooperating with the NTSB and other authorities on this incident,” said the FAA. According to the Sun , passengers on the damaged plane were on their way to Louisiana to report on Hurricane Francine. One meteorologist on board called the collision “terrifying .”
