Melania Shares Update on How Barron Is Doing at NYU

Hitting the book tour trail if not the campaign trail, Melania Trump opened up briefly about her son in a Tuesday appearance on Fox News, sharing that he’s doing just dandy a month into his freshman year at college. “He is doing great,” she said on The Five . “He loves his classes and professors. He is striving and enjoying to be in New York City again.” The former first lady writes about Barron in Melania at length, discussing how “cruel” online speculation that he was autistic had hurt their family. After comedian Rosie O’Donnell posted on social media about the then-10-year-old Barron’s supposedly autistic behavior, Melania writes, she “was appalled by such cruelty” and felt like “she was attacking my son because she didn’t like my husband.” (O’Donnell subsequently apologized for her post.) Melania also notes that though “there is nothing shameful about autism,” Barron has not been diagnosed with the condition. Melania later said that the whole episode was part of what led her to her much-maligned anti-cyberbullying initiative “Be Best.” Barron, now 18, is attending New York University.
