The youngest of former President Jimmy Carter’s three sons, Jeff Carter, has been quietly battling Parkinson’s disease, according to his family. Jeff Carter, 72, is independent and currently living by himself, according to his son, Josh, 40. “He built his house knowing that one day he’s going to need more help,” he told People magazine . He added, “We know that [Parkinson’s] is a one-way street.” The news comes as the former president recently celebrated his 100th birthday in hospice care, following previous reports that he is holding out to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in November. Over the years, Jeff Carter and his siblings have acted as caregivers on many occasions for their family, including when his parents entered hospice in 2023. “We’re going into this with eyes wide open knowing that we’re going to have more and more responsibilities going on, and it’s just got to be a part of life,” said Josh.
