Bret Baier Blasted for ‘Embarrassing’ Kamala Harris Interview

Vice President Kamala Harris sat down for an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, but it seemed that every time she spoke more than three words in a row, Bret Baier made an effort to stop her. Co-host Mika Brzezinski said the Fox News veteran was “embarrassing” and “rude.”

Morning Joe came prepared with clips of Harris and Baier’s turf battle to back her up. Willie Geist opened with a note before the footage played, claiming: “Bret Baier conducted that interview as if he had something to prove to the former president of the United States.”

A couple of months ago, voters were begging Harris to be more open about her policies, fearing that the Democrats were relying on either lofty ideals or jokes about ‘weird’ Republicans. For the Fox News interview, the Morning Joe hosts suggested that Harris tried to go in policy-first but found that Baier was having none of it, and Harris’ repeated requests to “let me finish!” were overridden.

“It went on like that for over 30 minutes,” Geist said.

“Kamala Harris went on Fox News, and took all those questions, and hung in there, and kept her calm, and didn’t attack the network or the interviewer or whine things were unfair. She talked about policy, and she gave answers to tough questions,” he said.

“It goes without saying that Donald Trump would not be given the same treatment, talked over, not allowed to finish the questions.”

Brzezinski compared the Harris interview to the rest of Baier’s long career. “That was different,” she said.

“It was supposed to give viewers an opportunity to actually hear her plans as President. Instead, as you saw, it almost immediately devolved into an embarrassing, bad-faith effort by a once-respected host to play to an audience of one,” she said of the uncomfortable watch.

“The host’s constant, rude interruptions were designed to distract from the issues and facts that Trump and his acolytes try and twist and distort every day.”
