Wife Charged with Death by Auto for Killing Husband in Hillsborough
Amanda O’Keefe, 37, of Hillsborough is charged with 2nd-degree murder, death by auto, after she allegedly drove while drunk and struck and killed her husband outside their home. She voluntarily turned herself in on March 29 to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, where she was arrested and lodged in the Somerset County Jail until she was released on March 30 pending a future court appearance.

Progress at the Route 518 - 206 Intersection, Montgomery Promenade, and a New Cell Tower
Montgomery Township has made further progress on the Route 518 and 206 intersection. The owner of the abandoned Texaco gas station has agreed to demolish the building and we anticipate a permit to be submitted within the month. They join their neighbor – the vacant auto parts store – who submitted a demolition permit for review in February. In the meanwhile, the demolition work has been completed at 1026 Route 518 (behind Wawa) where the roof had collapsed [about 10 years ago].

Teacher Gets Four Years in Prison for Sexually Assaulting a Student in Montgomery Township
Matthew Rennie, 29, of Ringoes — a former Rutgers Preparatory School teacher and basketball coach — was sentenced in Superior Court in Somerville on March 17 to four years in New Jersey State Prison for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old Rutgers Prep student. The assaults took place in Montgomery Township and East Amwell from July to September 2021.

The driver of a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck attempted to leave the scene of crash in Montgomery Township near Route 206 and Sunset Road on March 8 at about 6:30 pm. The other driver involved in the crash called police, then followed the fleeing Dodge Ram, while continuing to provide the location to the Montgomery police. Officers Christopher Parlow and Robert Davis located and stopped the Dodge Ram driver in his truck on Sleepy Hollow Lane.
