One22’s school supplies drive runs through Aug. 15
JACKSON, Wyo. — Even though it’s still the dog days of summer, a new school year is right around the corner. Some working families in Jackson might need assistance with the financial burden of back-to-school shopping. One22 Resource Center has brought back its school supplies drive, running now through Aug. 15, to meet this need. One22 is anticipating at least 200 requests for assistance with school supplies, so they’ve compiled a list of needed items drawn from the Teton County School District’s classroom supply lists.

Stallions fall in final conference games; state tournament up next
The Rock Springs American Legion baseball team completed their AA Conference season yesterday by dropping a road doubleheader at Jackson by scores of 5-1 and 5-2. The Stallions and Giants were playing for the conference #7 seed in next week’s AA State Tournament, which will be played in Casper. The two losses put Rock Springs into the #8 in the tournament.
Meet this year’s Red Desert Rodeo Royalty
The Red Desert Roundup Rodeo will take over the Sweetwater Events Complex Grandstand Arena this Friday and Saturday night, July 26 and 27. Helping to oversee the festivities will be this year’s rodeo royalty. They are Junior Princess Ashten Folks, and Junior Princess 1st Attendant is Kennedy Kleinlein. Both won their honors at this year’s Red Desert Roundup Rodeo Queen pageant which was held October 15, 2024, in Rock Springs.

A pair of local high school track and field competitors captured the two individual titles at the Pioneer Day Fun Run in Cowley Saturday morning. Lovell High School incoming senior Stetson Asay easily won the 5K race in a time of 21:35, while Rocky Mountain High School sophomore-to-be Dalan Wambeke defended his title in the mile, winning the race in a time of 6:37, 30 seconds faster than his time a year ago.

The dangerously high temperatures on Thursday will cool to a much more tolerable 84 degrees today, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota.
