Netflix Dominates the Streaming Chart, Led by Strong ‘Union’

Some unions are made to last, and Netflix seems to have built an enduring pair by matching Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry together in the action comedy film “The Union, ” in which Berry recruits Wahlberg for a special mission on behalf of a secret organization.

The film tops the streaming chart on the Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report for the week of Aug. 19-25, its second consecutive week at number one.

The Wrap Report provides an exclusive first look at the most-watched movies and TV series from the past week across both streaming and linear television sourced from viewership trends collected from Samba TV’s panel of more than 3 million households, balanced to the U.S. Census.

“The Union” kicks off a dominant Netflix run across the top half of the chart this week. “American Murder: Laci Peterson,” a true crime docuseries, remains in second place. It’s followed by even more true crime in the form of the documentary “Untold: The Murder of Air McNair.” Meanwhile, Season 4 of the Netflix original series “Emily in Paris” remains in fourth for the second consecutive week, and the 2023 Illumination animated film “Migration” is fifth this week after getting added to the Netflix library.

Staying steady on the chart is a theme this week, as Max’s “Industry” remains in sixth place as it continues its third season. The new Vince Vaughn-led Apple TV+ series “Bad Monkey” is in seventh, while the Prime Video original action comedy “Jackpot!” is eighth.

In ninth is Netflix’s tale of the old west, “Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War.” The drama series was added to Netflix on Aug. 21.

Closing out the top 10 is “Twisters.” The summer blockbuster hit theaters in July and has already made its way to VOD, which helps it crack this week’s chart. “Twisters” follows “Despicable Me 4,” another summer theatrical release that hit the Top 10 via VOD two weeks ago.

On the linear chart, America’s favorite summer program, “America’s Got Talent,” sits at the top for a second consecutive week. The NBC hit also snags the fourth place slot with a second airing, while another NBC competition, “American Ninja Warrior,” comes in third.

ABC nabs six spots on this week’s chart, led by “The Bachelorette” in second. Classics like “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “Wheel of Fortune,” and “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” own the bottom half of this week’s most-watched linear programs.
