Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has introduced two investment plans aimed at enhancing health, human services, and accessibility within the community.

These plans utilize funds from the American Rescue Plan Act and opioid abatement to create a vibrant, safe, and clean environment in Spokane.

    Investment Plan Details

The City of Spokane is set to receive over $9 million from the American Rescue Plan Act, with Mayor Brown proposing the allocation of these funds as follows:

    • $5 million to support transitions for Catholic Charities’ House of Charity
    • $1 million for the enhancement of Compassionate Addiction Treatment facilities
    • $2.15 million to expand broadband infrastructure in underserved communities
    • $1 million to sustain operations and resources for a “Vibrant, Clean, and Safe” initiative
    • $350,000 for Municipal Court’s Community Justice Services for pretrial case management and electronic monitoring

Additionally, the City anticipates receiving $13.3 million from settlements related to opioid litigation, with an initial allocation proposed by Mayor Brown, including:

    • $500,000 to expand the Spokane Fire Department’s CARES program
    • $500,000 for the creation of a High Utilizer and Complex Care Initiative
