President Joe Biden has approved a disaster declaration and funding for supplemental recovery efforts in certain areas of Washington.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that sixteen counties in Washington, including Okanogan and Ferry, will be receiving federal funding to assist with emergency repairs and replacements of damaged facilities.

The disaster declaration is in response to severe winter storms, flooding, winds, mudslides, and landslides that occurred on January 5, 2024. The funding will also support statewide hazard mitigation efforts on a cost-sharing basis. If requested by the state and approved by FEMA, additional areas may be added to receive funding later on.
