Where Does Blockchain Fit Into The Current Political Spectrum?

The Democrats, under the recent solidification of the party’s spirit into one man, have been promoting a new and improved political agenda. Buoyed by the defeat of Trump, and hopefully with it Trumpism, Democratic party leadership has a seemingly bottomless well of Republican corruption to parade in front of the American public to promote their agenda. This article will explore current political trends to unpack possible outcomes from the standpoint of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology more widely. If you’ve checked the price listings lately, you won’t be surprised to see my results: it looks like everything is coming up aces for Bitcoin.

What Do The Parties Want?

The Democrats’ agenda looks a lot like my agenda: financial security for American households. Being broke in the richest nation in the world is absolute fucking bullshit and I intend to do something about it, personally. But the Republican agenda Democrats face looks like something that was initially created to oppose someone like Hillary Clinton who could be easily conspired against in the media. Biden is progressives’ old white guy, who by virtue of his conservative Christian past is virtually immune to this line of attack. The core of the Republican ideology was that such old white guys are beyond reproach, so it will likely be quite a problem for them to need to continue calling a relatable old white guy a “radical” or a “Marxist” or whatever other insults they would prefer to paint their opposition with.

The Republicans seem primarily motivated by power. Every action they take, whether it is the opposition they create to any sort of stimulus or tax or healthcare plan that could make things easier on working families or the bailouts they endorse for corporations and the excessive military spending they insist upon, everything the contemporary Republican party cares about reduces to more power. This observation is made possible by over twenty years of study (I first became interested in politics during the Clinton impeachment in 1998), wondering just what on earth was wrong with these guys that they would act the way they do. Limitations on government overreach are fine with liberals, and healthcare is fine with conservatives. These are drums that have been beaten to death by the Republican leadership which will soon entirely run out of viable strategies. Their opponents finally find themselves in possession of answers to all of the dirty tricks in Ronald Reagan’s handbook.

I’m disappointed to see liberals expecting the right wing to immediately be beaten into submission by a Biden administration before inauguration day. Political victories are the currency which swells the sails of ascendant dynasties, pushing them forward into time even as their rivals are born, grow old, and die. It will take a few wins for the Biden Administration to beat its Republican opposition into submission, and I think that Biden’s estimate that it will take 6-8 months to accomplish the defeat of the worldview that tainted the administrations of his predecessors is extraordinary. It shows that the conservative agenda and leadership are dying as the days of President Trump’s immunity to prosecution for his crimes wane. I expect all of the above trends to accelerate if Trump is in fact prosecuted, and we will be in for far more hardship if it is not.

What Comes Next?

Progressivism is written into the Constitution and is the source of the generative set of properties which have enabled it to survive nearly two and a half centuries. We amend the constitution when it fails us, so there’s no real need to rewrite it altogether. It’s a lot like the technology sector which has been America’s economic engine for decades at this point: if it breaks, replace it with something better.

Our old social structures had problems, so we all glommed onto social media when it became available. Soon, value will follow online interactions as people learn to hold the value they create and are supported in this task by decentralized, non-corporate platforms which are created under a new model of economic incentivization and which cannot be, in any traditional reading of the word, thought of as the property of anyone in particular.

Decency and morality’s structures will still determine the availability and acceptance of content, but corporate governance structures will be replaced by DAOs and responsibility for the course of action taken will never fall to a single person. Bad decisions will result in the formation of new organizations, and human action is likely to be unified by the first-ever truly rational and open economic structure mankind has yet invented for itself. The point of this lengthy tirade is simple enough: The Democrats need to pick up the ball and advance the agenda of cryptocurrency and blockchain as the single most important technological component of their agenda. Climate change, income inequality, health insurance, and other mainstay political issues of our day are all things that blockchain technology is capable of addressing in new ways.

The Future Liberals (And Conservatives) Want

Automation and graph databases work extraordinarily well together for obvious reasons, but this new form of neural network has also shown promise in solving other, harder problems. Made-to-order monoclonal antibodies may soon be capable of attacking cancer cells and scar tissue and it is possible that dentin will be regrowable by a dentist. Our world is on the cusp of a technological change unlike any that has come before it.

Naturally, the party that labels itself “progressive” has found that it suddenly holds a massive political advantage that could create a dynasty that could last for generations if it isn’t subverted on the left or outflanked by the right. The most important thing to realize about the 2020 elections has emerged retrospectively: the party chose the face it needed to defeat its opposition. The power of diversity, rather than heterogeny, will likely dominate American politics as the old suppression tactics fall apart over time.

The most fascinating part of blockchain technology is the ability of a relatively simple programming concept to completely overturn almost every single assumption about how economies work. Web3.0 will bring something capitalism has long needed: accountability. But rather than accountability for over-responsible individuals, it will bring accountability to follow abstract rules to automatons which simply follow the rules. If they break, replace them with a better version of the same program. The potential this innovation has to bring leisure to people who own real estate on these networks is limitless; but so is the possibility that wealth will be distributed more equally here. Incentive structures which do not encourage hospitals to overbill whenever possible are now on the horizon. Unmanipulated finance is only the beginning for blockchain technology, which will be capable of almost anything we can imagine.
