Quickly Declutter Your Home | Creative Tips

In this article, we discussed five creative tips on how to declutter your home quickly without losing your sanity or your favorite pair of jeans.

Standing in the middle of a room with piles of stuff, we've all wondered how it got this bad. Do not worry; you are not alone. Decluttering your home doesn't always have to be a new challenge. It can be done quickly. So, if you're ready to transform your space and find that long-lost pair of socks—you know, the ones—stick around, we're about to share five creative tips for decluttering your home.

    1. Take a 10-Minute Sweep

Take 10 minutes and pick a room—any room. Now, clear out the obvious clutter. You know, those empty coffee cups, random papers, and a sock or two that found their way into the living room. Again, it's not about getting it perfect, but about making progress. You'll be surprised at how much better that room looks when that buzzer goes off.

    2. Implement the Four-Box Method.

The four-box method couldn't get much simpler. Just take four boxes, bags, or whatever else you might have at your disposal and label them Keep, Donate, Trash, and Relocate. Take that closet you've been ignoring for the last couple of months. Start taking things out and putting them in one of the four boxes. Is there a sweater you haven't worn since high school? That's probably a Donate Box candidate. How did that pair of shoes end up here instead of by the front door? That's a relocation situation.

    3. Declutter one room at a time.

The saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day," and your cluttered home isn't going to be transformed into a totally organized one in one day, either—unless you happen to be some kind of decluttering guru. So, what's the solution? One room at a time. Pick the room that really stresses you out the most: the kitchen, bedroom, or even a bathroom—yes, clutter is hiding there, too. Put up some focused time in just that one area with the 10-minute sweep and the four-box method we discussed earlier.

    4. Apply the "One In, One Out" Rule.

Cleaning up your space is one thing, but making sure it stays that way is another. This is where the rule of "One In, One Out" can come in really handy. Pretty simple: Before a new item gets a spot in your home, it is time to say goodbye to the old one.

    5. Digitize paperwork

With technology, there's no reason to keep every paper and photo. Start by scanning important documents such as medical records and contracts. There are a ton of apps that make this really easy.

There you have it—five creative tips on how to declutter fast without losing your sanity or your favorite pair of jeans. Decluttering doesn't have to be this humongous, daunting task. It can be quick and, well, relatively painless if you take the right approach. So, what are you waiting for?
