Broderick in Walnut Creek, California is a casual restaurant and bar just off North Main Street. Broderick has a casual feel, with a low-key Wild West saloon theme. Leather booths, glowing exposed lightbulbs and lots of cowboy knickknacks complete the look.

I visited Broderick for lunch and tried a variety of dishes, as well as the kids meals.

Broderick serves American food. Burgers are clearly a big deal here, and a chalkboard sign by the door shows their Jonny Cash burger. Broderick also has tasty items billed as “Shareables,” which are actually plenty large enough for one person to eat as their meal.

I tried their fish tacos on my visit. They were tasty–a bit more basic than the fish tacos I’d get at a nearby place like Gott’s, but still very yummy. They’re also a great deal. I got three large tacos, loaded up with grilled fish and veggies, for $15. That’s the price of one duck taco at C Casa.

I also tried Broderick’s giant pretzel. It comes with dipping sauces and an optional beer cheese sauce for an up charge. It was delicious, tender and fresh from the oven.

Other little touches at Broderick were nice. I like how they serve sodas in old-timey glass mugs. They have a great beer menu with rotating taps, but I went for lunch so I didn’t try the beer.

Overall, Broderick is a nice addition to downtown Walnut Creek if you’re looking for cozy and casual American food. Check it out!
