A visitor passing through Placerville recently expressed gratitude after experiencing an unexpected flat tire while driving from the Bay Area to Tahoe.

The traveler shared their story online, writing, "I was surprised and happy to see so many people offering to help us out (>10 people offered to help!). Special thanks to a mechanic with a friendly dog who helped a lot."

Locals were quick to offer further advice and recommendations for future visits.

One local suggested, "Take a walk down main street! There's something for almost anyone. Maybe grab a bagel and coffee at Bagel Works if you're passing through in the morning." Another added, "And Studio 360!"

The traveler, impressed by the town's welcoming atmosphere, responded, "Placerville looks like a lovely place – I'll need to plan a trip to visit next time."

Actually this does not surprise me. I recently moved from the Bay Area to Placerville. Right now I need to use a wheelchair because I had surgery on my leg and hip. Whenever I go out, I don’t get very far without someone asking me if I need help for a number of reasons. It can be something as simple as opening a door for me or helping me get up slight slope. This happens all the time in this city and it is always done with a cheerful smile and the question do I need any other help? I am so impressed with this community and only hope that I can bring something positive to add to an already gracious city.
