Cheshire ice sculptor spends days inside 18-degree studio
CHESHIRE, Conn. — Bill Covitz has owned “Ice Matters” for 25 years, but during summer heat waves, people become especially curious about his ice capades. “Ice Matters is a sculpture company, and we do ice sculptures for weddings and corporate events and holiday parties,” said Covitz, who works out of a 17' by 17' freezer/studio that’s on his residential property in Cheshire.

BETHLEHEM — Nonnewaug High School alum Jess Davis is heading to the 2024 Olympic Games to represent Team USA in the modern pentathlon. Davis hails from Bethlehem and punched her ticket to Paris after placing fourth in the modern pentathlon at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. She graduated from Nonnewaug in 2010 as a track and field star before attending Central Connecticut State University.

Youth leaders from New Britain Youth Leads donated money they had fundraised to HRA of New Britain’s New Britain Food Resource Center.
