THOMPSON, Conn. (WWLP) – A Thompson, Connecticut man was arrested for burglary and drug charges Thursday after he was found hiding in a home’s basement.

Man arrested in Enfield road rage incident involving gunfire

Connecticut State Police troopers were called to Brandy Hill Road around 11:39 a.m. on the Fourth of July for a report of a man walking through backyards of private homes. When troopers arrived they were informed that the suspect had run away from neighbors and possibly entered one home through a basement window.

State Police K9 Boss tracked the suspect to a home on Brandy Hill Road. Inside the basement, 36-year-old Christopher Sargent of Thompson was found hiding in a small room behind a washing machine. Sargent came out with his hands up and was arrested. Troopers also seized narcotics from his possession.

Sargent has been charged with burglary in the third degree, interfering with police and possession of a controlled substance. Sargent also had an active arrest warrant for an incident in Putnam, Connecticut in May 2024. He received additional charges of criminal trespass in the first degree, larceny in the sixth degree and breach of peace in the second degree for the warrant.

Sargent was ordered to pay $7,500 in bond and was released under the condition to appear in Superior Court on July 18.
