    Team Impact hosts special day for kids at Thompson Speedway

    THOMPSON, Conn. (WTNH) — More than 50 members of the Team Impact community came together form all over the area to experience race car rides, meet professional drivers, and participate in exhilarating activities Tuesday at the Thompson Speedway.

    They also learned more about the sport of racecar driving.

    Collinsville gets kids learning on the water

    Executive director of Team Impact Northeast Ryan Irwin said the special event has been happening for a few years, thanks to a partnership with Turner Motorsport, Bartlett Engineering and Marina Studios.

    “We’ve collaborated together to give these kids in our program an incredible memory and a day they’ll never forget to ride in a race car,” Irwin said.

    Team Impact’s unique multi-year program signs children facing serious illness and disability onto college athletic teams across the country.

    The program has matched more than 3,000 children with 750 colleges and universities in 50 states.
