Cross Country Begins Season at Ken O’Brien Minuteman Invite
AMHERST, Mass. – The Boston University cross country teams opened their season at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invite at UMass on Saturday. The men's squad finished third with 75 points and the women's squad finished fourth with 83 points. The Terriers went up against athletes from UMass, Northeastern and Central Connecticut to begin the 2024 slate. In the men's 6K, all five of BU's freshmen made their collegiate debut. Pittsfield Raises Overdose Awareness Flag
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — An overdose awareness flag was raised in front of City Hall for the first time on Thursday. Hosted by Berkshire Harm Reduction and the Berkshire Overdose Addiction Prevention Collaborative, around 50 community members marched from Allen Street to Park Square holding signs with phrases such as "Smash the stigma," and "Cool kids carry naloxone."
Last-minute talks avert transit strike in Springfield area
PVTA buses are picking up passengers this morning after a tentative agreement was struck just hours after union workers voted overwhelmingly Saturday to strike. The announcement came at 6:36 a.m., 14 hours after workers represented by Amalgamated Transit Union Local 448 voted overwhelmingly to strike the PVTA, shutting down bus service in the greater Springfield region.

WORCESTER, Mass. — Members of Worcester Firefighters Local 1009 stood out across the city Saturday as they looked to "fill the boot." The group was looking to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Muscular dystrophy is described as a group of diseases that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass.
