“Could Be Glen Campbell Reincarnated”: Charles Wesley Godwin Takes Over Late Night With Special “Family Ties” Performance
Although seeking a career in football, life had other plans for Charles Wesley Godwin while he attended West Virginia University. Attending the college for finance, the country singer learned to play the guitar. But it went far beyond the guitar as he also practiced a great deal of songwriting. Drawing influence from singers like Willie Nelson, Chris Knight, and Kris Kristofferson, it was only a matter of time before Godwin found his way to the stage. And recently, he took over late-night television with a performance of “Family Ties.”

Did WVU see best of Oklahoma State in 2023, are Cowboys better in 2024?
The first act of West Virginia's 2024 football schedule deserves some attention. Not only are the Mountaineers the rare team facing two major-conference opponents in non-conference play, but they played Penn State and Pitt a season ago. Big 12 play begins with a home game against Kansas, and tough, no, they did not play last season, WVU ought to have a much better idea what to expect this time around. The first of the season's two opening weeks follows before a road game against Oklahoma State, and there's familiarity there, too.

Sunny and hot weekend; rain returns next week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - The cold front that’s caused a bulk of this week’s precipitation has sagged to our south, slowly taking the rain, clouds, and humidity with it. By sunset tonight, most rain will be cleared. Some patchy AM fog in areas that saw precipitation today is likely. Friday afternoon will be mostly sunny and seasonable with comfortable humidity (a few stray showers are possible in the highest elevations in the late afternoon/evening, however). Saturday and Sunday will be much warmer, potentially reaching 90 degrees in the lowlands each day. Humidity will increase a bit, but won’t be oppressive. However, at the start of the new work week, an approaching system will increase our chances for heavy rain and thunderstorms, and will also increase our humidity. So, even though air temperatures won’t be as high next week, expect it to feel fairly muggy. Any and all rain is welcome at this point-- West Virginia is one of only two states in the country with 100% of the state being under some level of drought (the other is South Carolina). Hopefully next week’s rain, which is expected each day of the week, will be soaking enough to relieve us of some of these extremely dry conditions.
