Scattered thunderstorms on the 4th continue into Friday
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Heat and humidity have been ramping up as the system bringing holiday storms draws nearer. Overnight tonight, a few scattered showers will start to dapple the area. Then, throughout the entirety of Independence Day, the chance of scattered storms will loom. There may be some clearing in the afternoon, so you may be able to get outdoors, but keep an eye on the radar and be mindful that it will be very humid. Some of the storms by the afternoon and evening could get strong in isolated cases, wielding heavy downpours and gusty winds. We’ll be keeping an eye out for potential minor flash flooding in areas that get hit with the heaviest rain. While storms will continue into Friday, they won’t be as numerous, nor will they get severe. Activity will taper off by late Saturday morning, giving way to sunshine by the afternoon. It’s at this point that humidity should start to lower as well. The weekend should remain warm and sunny, but more storms are likely next week.
