Carmel sues property owner for operating short-term rental illegally
The City of Carmel filed a lawsuit July 11 against the owner of a home on Singletree Court that city officials claim is being illegally operated as a short-term rental. Four days earlier, multiple renters were carried out of the home on stretchers in what appeared to be a “mass drug overdose,” according to Christin Diehl, who lives next door. Current has filed a public information request for more information about the incident.

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University Bloomington has ranked highly in the recently released U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings for 2024-25. Of the 2,250 universities ranked worldwide, IU Bloomington ranked 135th overall for global impact, the highest of the ranked universities in Indiana. The DNR Shooting Range Grant Program is accepting applications for the development of rifle, handgun, shotgun firing, and archery opportunities for public use. While growing up in southern Indiana, I always looked forward to trips to the shooting range. I started out at just seven years old with a simple single shot .22 rifle, before making my way up to a 12-gauge shotgun around the age of 11. Eventually, I was given the opportunity to fire a few different handguns. The hobby has stuck with me through the years, and I've since become fascinated with old military surplus rifles. I still make regular trips to the shooting range today.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Firefighters in South Bend and across Indiana can now apply for the Indiana Firefighter PFAS Biomonitoring Pilot Program. The pilot program analyzes PFAs, also known as 'forever chemical' due to their longevity and toxicity, levels in firefighters' blood. The test results are then used to improve safety procedures and better protect firefighter health.
