Truck fire in Thousand Oaks closes transition from Highway 23 to 101

A vehicle caught fire late Thursday morning in Thousand Oaks between the transition from southbound Highway 23 to northbound Highway 101.

The fire involving a pump truck was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m. and shut down the transition road between the two highways, according to initial fire and California Highway Patrol reports.

The truck was blocking the right lane of the transition, CHP said on social media. Officers advised drivers to use alternate routes.

Firefighters worked to ensure the vehicle fire did not ignite nearby brush, and the blaze was apparently knocked down before 11 a.m. although traffic in the area was affected.

All lanes had reopened by 12:10 p.m., CHP officials said.
