Police ID body found in Three Rivers as missing woman

THREE RIVERS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Three Rivers have confirmed that a body found under a porch Friday morning is that of a woman who had been reported missing.

On Wednesday, the Three Rivers Police Department identified the body as that of 41-year-old Nicole Wood, a Three Rivers resident.

Police say they are still investigating the cause of death, though Chief Scott Boling previously told News 8 the death was being treated as suspicious.

“At this point, there is nothing to suggest that there is a threat to the community,” police wrote Wednesday in a social media post.

The body was found shortly after 6 a.m. Friday, July 12, outside a house at the corner of Middle Street and 1st Avenue. Officers called to the scene “confirmed that the subject was beyond medical care,” the Three Rivers Police Department said . Later that day, a News 8 crew on scene saw investigators pull the body from under the back porch.

On Thursday, July 11 — one day before the body was found — the police department asked for the community’s help finding Wood, whom they described as “missing and endangered.” She had been missing since July 7, according to police.

“During this difficult time, the department extends our condolences to the family and friends of Nicole Wood,” police said Wednesday.
