Municipal authorities have confirmed that the Huntsville Public Works Department, alongside first responders, is currently engaged in evaluating the extent of damage and undertaking the removal of debris following a significant storm that moved through Madison County on Wednesday evening.

Emergency Management Agency (EMA) officials have also stated that they are actively monitoring the potential for further severe weather conditions overnight on Thursday.

Reports on social media show fallen trees and power lines throughout Huntsville as a result of the storm, as well as structural damage in areas affected, such as Five Points, Blossomwood, and the Hampton Cove Communities.

From Huntsville/Madison County EMA, City of Huntsville, and Huntsville police:

The Public Works Department of Huntsville is currently evaluating the impacted regions and collaborating with first responders to remove debris following the recent severe storms that swept through the city on Wednesday night. Additionally, the Huntsville-Madison County Emergency Management Agency is actively monitoring the potential for further severe weather occurrences on Thursday morning.

Public Works Director Chris McNeese has stated that his team will be working diligently overnight to assist in the removal of storm debris. It is advised that drivers steer clear of the affected regions. Additionally, intersections lacking power must be approached with caution, treating them as four-way stops. Please exercise vigilance in areas where public works crews and first responders are actively operating.

If you travel to the Five Points area in Huntsville, please use caution, as many trees have fallen due to weather conditions. This has resulted in power outages in some places, so be aware and take necessary precautions if you plan to drive or walk through the affected regions.

Huntsville Utilities is working on widespread outages throughout Huntsville and Madison County. Updates are available here.
