The headline may shock you, but it's sadly the reality of how Alabama's governor responds to single parents reaching out to discuss the struggles facing the "middle class" of Alabama. In a gut-wrenching video, user @yesitsemmaleeann shares her heart-wrenching experience of how Governor Kay Ivey reacted to parents expressing concerns about the soaring costs of rent, groceries, and utilities. The video is a must-watch, and as a parent myself, I'm appalled by the response of the person we've entrusted to lead our state.

It's hard to believe, but Governor Ivey not only suggested that this woman put her child up for adoption, but also threatened to call the Department of Human Resources (DHR) on her for reaching out. While some have defended Governor Ivey, claiming that she was simply offering available options, even they acknowledge that her approach could have been far more compassionate. As one commenter on the video put it, "She was giving you the resources available, however, she could have started the letter by saying something like, 'I’m sorry you’re going through this and I know it’s hard out there, etc.'"

Others have vehemently criticized our governor, arguing that she completely missed the point. Some have even shared their own harrowing experiences, highlighting the alarming corruption within Alabama DHR and expressing a loss of faith in seeking help from any government entity. As one frustrated individual puts it, "Every system is broken."

Since sharing her video, user @yesitsemmaleeann has been inundated with stories from Alabama residents recounting their own troubling encounters with DHR. The outpouring of support from people across the country has been immense.

Alabama DHR is scarily corrupt and I’ll never ask anyone in any area of government for help again. Per my own experience. Every system is broken.
The way I read it is she is basically telling you that is basically the only resource there is and that they may can help you but no government cares about any of us

UPDATE: Apparently Governor Ivey was made aware of the woman's criticism of her response, and the platform has seemingly been trying to remove the woman's content

Have you had any poor experiences with Alabama DHR?

Have you ever reached out to the Governor, or anyone else in Montgomery to speak on behalf of a demographic, if so, what was the response you got?

Let me know in the comments!

Insane . Anyone with authority powers are aliens for sure ! That’s crazyy. Praying they don’t take your baby girl .. they sure did take my precious little one, and let the wrong parent have visitation .. the parent who was always passed out from being high, the parent who never fed our child while I worked even though I would leave premade bottles .. their rap sheet said it all but Dhr doesn’t want to hear it ! smh. Wish u the best :( that first decision of theirs is their final .
