Bob Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock, used to play apolitical music that he considered heavy metal merged with hip-hop, but over time he has remade himself as a country-tinged southern rock musician who is focused on MAGA politics. So, what happened? Why did the son of a rich man from the suburbs of Detroit turn into a truck driving, country boy from the backwoods of Alabama?

Kid Rock, born Robert James Ritchie, recently spoke with David Peisner, who released an in-depth biography of the musician on Sunday night. The feature, titled "How Kid Rock Went From America's Favorite Hard-Partying Rock Star to a MAGA Mouthpiece," looked at Rock's ascent to stardom and how he eventually became a prominent figure in the far-right movement.

Peisner recounted the conversation in Rock's home music studio, saying the two talked about political issues like the 2024 presidential election, transgender rights, and illegal immigration, and at one point, the "Picture" singer pulled out a revolver and waved it around.

“By this time, I’ve long since quit drinking, but Ritchie has exchanged his white wine for Jim Beam and Diet Coke,” Peisner wrote. “He proceeds to drain at least three or four of them in pretty quick succession. He’s sitting in a dark leather chair, shouting at me about something or other, when he reaches behind the seat, pulls out a black handgun, and waves it around to make some sort of point.”
“And I got a f—ing god--mn gun right here if I need it,” Kid Rock allegedly said, according to Peisner. “I got them everywhere!”

According to Peisner, they then discussed American history, including slavery and the extermination of Native Americans. When questioned if he was on the wrong side of history, Kid Rock reportedly responded, "No. The Republicans freed the f—ing slaves!"

Kid Rock then claimed Detroit artist Trick Trick, who is Black, supported Rock's support for former President Trump and referred to the rapper as a racist slur, Peisner added.

“I’m part of the problem,” Kid Rock allegedly said. “I’m one of the polarizing people, no question. Sometimes I b—- about other people, then I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, why don’t you shut the f— up too?’”

Shortly after that, Kid Rock follows up with:

“It’s a rich-guy issue. No f--s left. I’m not going to get it right every time, but I know my heart’s right. I want the best for this country.”

It's comforting to know that Kid Rock occasionally looks at himself and tells himself to shut up. It would probably be better if he listened to himself when he said it, though.

No big surprise. He's been talentless jerk from day 1. When people come to realize this, he just moves on to another arena/genre.
