Alabama's Most Liberal & Conservative Areas

    2024-06-09

There is no doubt whatsoever that Alabama is a deep red, conservative state, but there are places in the Yellowhammer State where you can feel welcome for being a liberal. Now someone has put out a tool that can help you determine the most liberal or the most conservative area based solely on your views.

Clarity Campaign Labs, an analytics company that provides campaign counsel to Democratic candidates, believes that understanding voters' political and religious convictions is critical. On their website, they provide a survey with seven questions on these issues. The survey responses help to determine which geographical region of the state is most closely aligned with the user's political inclinations.

Morris is the most conversative place in Alabama

Using this method, Morris, was declared Alabama's most conservative community. According to the data, people just north of Gardendale, has the highest proportion of Republican voters who are pro-life, pro-gun, anti-tax, and anti-environmental measures. Morris residents are more likely than others to identify as religious (58 percent).

Other areas scoring high on the conservative meter were Mount Olive, Baileyton, Kimberly and Ranburne.

On the flipside, Huntsville is unsurprisingly the most liberal

Using the most obvious answers to get this result, the most liberal area in Alabama is located in the Huntsville area. However, not all of Rocket City leans left; in major cities, the study breaks down responses to the zip code level.

It ranks Huntsville zip code 35896, which surrounds Oakwood College, as the most liberal place in the state. There is a 92 percent chance that someone residing there is a Democrat. They are also likely to support abortion, environmental laws, gun control, and taxation rather than welfare cuts.

Other liberal hotspots were Montgomery (36104), Birmingham, (35218), Birmingham (35204), and Fairfield (35064).
