Bradenton To Have A Hot and Humid Start to the Week with Scattered Showers Along With Tampa Bay

Scattered showers and steamy conditions continue as the region braces for a potential tropical disturbance later in the week.

Tampa Bay remains warm with rain chances on the rise ahead of possible tropical development.

[TAMPA] — Issued by the National Weather Service at 7:32 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Hot and Humid Weather with Scattered Showers for Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay and surrounding areas are expected to experience another warm and humid day on Monday, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s to mid-90s. While mostly dry conditions are forecast overnight, scattered showers could develop across the coastal areas and Nature Coast by the morning. The highest rain chances will remain north of I-4, where 30-40% of the area may see showers during the afternoon. Heat indices south of I-4 are expected to approach advisory levels, so residents should take precautions to stay cool.

Moisture and Rain Chances Increase as the Week Progresses

As the week moves forward, a potential tropical disturbance could increase rain chances by late in the week. Though currently forecast confidence is low, the National Hurricane Center has given this disturbance a 50% chance of development in the Western Caribbean by mid-week. Should this system move into the Gulf of Mexico, it could bring more significant rainfall and an unsettled weather pattern to Tampa Bay by the weekend.

Residents are urged to stay informed as this system develops, as tropical disturbances can rapidly change in intensity and path.

Cooler and Breezier Conditions by Mid-Week

By mid-week, a cold front will approach the region, shifting winds to a more easterly direction. This will lead to an increase in wind speeds and potentially breezy conditions across Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. Rain chances will remain scattered, with easterly winds keeping the west coast sea breeze less influential.

Calm Seas, but Tropical Activity Could Bring Changes

Current marine forecasts suggest light winds and calm seas, with waves less than 2 feet across Gulf waters for the start of the week. However, by mid-week, the potential tropical disturbance and the advancing cold front could increase winds and seas, leading to hazardous conditions for boaters. Mariners should monitor the development of this system closely and prepare for changing conditions.
