The U.S. Senate candidate and former Attorney General unite to highlight the fight for democracy, economic fairness, and Floridians’ rights ahead of the 2024 election.

MIAMI, FLDebbie Mucarsel-Powell, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, and former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder rallied Miami voters today, focusing on key issues such as economic relief and the protection of democratic rights in Florida. Mucarsel-Powell expressed frustration with the current political climate and Senator Rick Scott's record, calling for an end to the "extremism, chaos, and political division" in the state.

“Our vote is our power and we must defend it from those who threaten our democracy,” Mucarsel-Powell said, in a nod to Scott’s refusal to certify the 2020 election. She outlined her vision for a Florida where families can afford to thrive and individual freedoms are protected, pledging to ensure every voter’s voice is heard. Mucarsel-Powell vowed that, with Holder’s backing, they would "retire Rick Scott" come November.

Holder, the 82nd U.S. Attorney General, emphasized the importance of this election, contrasting Mucarsel-Powell’s priorities with those of Rick Scott. He pointed out Scott’s support for a national abortion ban and his role in crafting plans to cut Social Security and Medicare.

“This election is a choice between a candidate who is focused on the issues that matter most to Floridians... and a politician who time again has sold out Floridians for his own gain,” said Holder. He urged voters to support Mucarsel-Powell, who he described as a leader who would put Floridians first and pursue policies that reflect their interests.

As the election nears, both leaders aim to rally voters around Mucarsel-Powell’s campaign and mobilize support to defeat Scott in November.
