These gusty conditions are expected to subside by tonight as high pressure begins to settle over the area, leading to dry weather through mid-week. However, residents should prepare for below-normal temperatures in the coming days.
Marine Warning: Gale Conditions Across Lake Huron Waters
The National Weather Service has issued a Gale Warning for parts of Lake Huron this morning, with wind gusts reaching 40 to 45 knots. Boaters are urged to exercise caution, as winds will create dangerous conditions on the lake. Small Craft Advisories are also in effect for Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie, where waves could pose hazards for smaller vessels throughout the day. Wind speeds are expected to gradually decrease by this evening.
Fire Weather Risks Increase with Low Humidity and High Winds
In addition to the strong winds, the National Weather Service has raised concerns over fire weather conditions for much of Southeast Michigan. The dry air combined with wind gusts of up to 30 mph and relative humidity levels between 20% and 30% may elevate fire risks. Residents are advised to avoid burning debris and take caution with outdoor flames until conditions improve.
Temperatures Set to Drop Midweek with Frost Possible
Looking ahead, high temperatures today will hover in the mid to upper 70s. As the cold front passes, temperatures will dip below seasonal norms, with a risk of frost in some areas by Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
