Maryland Democratic Party Calls for Chuck Yocum to Withdraw from Anne Arundel County School Board

As serious sexual assault allegations surface, the Maryland Democratic Party and prominent officials urge Chuck Yocum to immediately step down from his candidacy for Anne Arundel County School Board.

Allegations of Child Abuse and Misconduct Against Chuck Yocum Intensify

ANNAPOLIS, MDThe Maryland Democratic Party has called on Charles “Chuck” Yocum to withdraw from the Anne Arundel County School Board race after an investigation by the Baltimore Banner uncovered further evidence corroborating serious sexual assault allegations made by former students. The Party's statement highlights a troubling pattern of abusive behavior, making Yocum unfit for a position overseeing the county’s children, according to MDP spokesperson Luca Amayo.

“The evidence of Mr. Yocum’s pattern of abusive conduct is overwhelming and deeply disturbing,” said Amayo. “He has proven himself unfit for any public office—especially one involving the education and well-being of children.”

Yocum's Allies Urged to Condemn His Actions

The Party has also called on LaToya Nkongolo and Dawn Pulliam, candidates who have campaigned closely with Yocum, to publicly join the demand for his withdrawal. The Democratic Party insists that failure to distance themselves from Yocum effectively condones his behavior.

The accusations against Yocum stem not only from the sexual assault claims but also from his public statements, which reflect a consistent pattern of misogynistic and demeaning language toward women. In a self-published blog, Yocum made dismissive comments about women who accused Donald Trump of sexual assault, referring to one accuser as resembling “Cruella De’Ville” and openly questioning the legitimacy of their claims. He has also been known to use offensive slurs against women, calling them “btch,” “slt,” and “wh*re” in public forums.

Pressure Mounts as Local Officials Join the Call for Yocum's Withdrawal

Several prominent local officials and organizations have added their voices to the growing call for Yocum to step aside. These include Advance Maryland, County Executive Steuart Pittman, State Senators Sarah Elfreth and Dawn Gile, and County Councilwoman Allison Pickard.

With the allegations mounting and Yocum’s refusal to step down, the situation has caused growing concerns over the integrity of the Anne Arundel County School Board race. Local leaders argue that allowing Yocum to remain in the race could severely damage the community’s confidence in their school board.

As the November election draws near, the pressure on Yocum to withdraw is expected to intensify, especially as the safety and trust of the county’s students remain at the forefront of the conversation.
