Cold Morning with a Freeze Warning in Effect, Warmer and Breezier Conditions Expected Later This Week

Freeze Warning Issued for North Dakota as Cold Temperatures Settle In

Residents across North Dakota should prepare for freezing temperatures this morning as a Freeze Warning is in effect until 10 AM CDT. The warning covers the entire state, with temperatures expected to dip below 32°F in most areas, and some locations could drop into the upper teens in western North Dakota. Another round of freezing temperatures is expected tonight into Tuesday morning.

Breezy Conditions and Fire Weather Concerns Later This Week

As high pressure moves out and warmer air arrives by midweek, breezy winds will develop, particularly on Wednesday. Winds of 15 to 25 knots are expected, with gusts reaching up to 35 knots in some areas. The combination of dry conditions and low humidity will raise fire weather concerns, especially in areas with dry fuels.

Cooler Temperatures and Rain Chances Toward the End of the Week

By the end of the week, cooler, more seasonable temperatures will return along with a 30 to 50% chance of precipitation. A cold front is expected to move through North Dakota late Thursday into Friday, bringing the best chance for light rain. While rainfall amounts are expected to be light, they will provide some relief to the dry conditions.
