NWS Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook for Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota

Marquette, MIThe National Weather Service (NWS) has released a series of Hazardous Weather Outlooks for the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes regions, including Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The advisories warn of potential thunderstorms, patchy fog, and hot weather over the next several days.

Patchy Fog and Thunderstorm Risks in Upper Michigan and Lake Superior

The NWS has alerted residents in central and western Upper Michigan, as well as areas around Lake Superior, of possible thunderstorms and patchy fog tonight. The fog, which could be dense in some areas, poses a visibility risk, especially for travelers. Thunderstorm activity may continue intermittently from Wednesday through Friday, with the possibility of isolated severe storms, including strong winds and large hail.

Severe Thunderstorms Possible in Northern Wisconsin and Northwest Lake Michigan

Northern Wisconsin and northwest Lake Michigan are under a hazardous weather outlook, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms expected tonight. The storms could bring strong wind gusts and hail, posing a hazard to mariners. Similar weather patterns are expected to persist through Friday, with additional storms forecasted.

Heatwave and Thunderstorms to Hit Minnesota and West Central Wisconsin

The NWS warns of a heatwave affecting central and southern Minnesota, along with west central Wisconsin, with heat index values reaching the upper 80s and 90s. The area is also under threat from thunderstorms, which could turn severe, particularly on Thursday afternoon and evening. The primary concerns are damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall, which could exacerbate the heat conditions.

    Precautionary Measures and Spotter Information

Residents and visitors in the affected regions are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions, especially in low-visibility conditions caused by fog. Mariners are urged to be cautious, as thunderstorms could pose serious hazards on the water.

Spotters are requested to report any instances of hail, wind damage, or other severe weather events to the NWS. No spotter activation is anticipated at this time.
