Foggy mornings and evening storms may disrupt travel across northeast Wisconsin.

Green Bay, WI — Issued by the National Weather Service at 2:30 AM CDT on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Fog Poses Hazardous Conditions for Early Morning Travelers

The National Weather Service in Green Bay, Wisconsin, has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for north-central and northeast Wisconsin. On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, travelers in these regions, including Vilas, Oneida, Door, and Brown counties, are urged to exercise caution due to patchy fog that may significantly reduce visibility during the early morning hours.

Commuters heading to work, school, or other destinations are advised to drive with care, as fog could limit sightlines and create dangerous road conditions. Visibility may rapidly decrease in low-lying areas and near bodies of water, increasing the risk of accidents.

The National Weather Service warns that fog may reappear again late Wednesday night and persist into the early hours of Thursday, potentially affecting travel into the next day.

Slight Thunderstorm Chances Loom for Late Week

While severe weather isn't expected, forecasters are monitoring a slight chance of thunderstorms developing across northern Wisconsin between Thursday night and Friday afternoon. The impacted regions include Florence, Marathon, and Southern Marinette counties.

The anticipated storms are not predicted to produce severe conditions, but any unexpected shifts in weather patterns could lead to thunderstorm formation, posing additional risks to travelers and outdoor activities.

Motorists are advised to stay informed and adjust their travel plans accordingly, as even minor storms can lead to slick roads, localized flooding, and potentially hazardous situations.

    No Spotter Activation Needed

At this time, the National Weather Service does not anticipate activating weather spotters. However, residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and report any significant weather changes to authorities.
