Pleasant conditions to dominate the region, with a slight chance of rain Friday.

Marquette, MI — Issued by the National Weather Service at 4:24 AM EDT on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Dry and Seasonable Weather to Prevail in Upper Michigan

The National Weather Service in Marquette, Michigan, forecasts a continued period of dry weather and near-normal temperatures across Upper Michigan through the rest of the workweek. High pressure will keep the region mostly clear, with only a slight chance of showers expected late Thursday night into Friday. Today will see sunny skies, with temperatures rising into the mid to upper 70s by the afternoon. Overnight lows will remain cool, dipping into the low 40s inland and mid to upper 40s elsewhere.

    Chances of Showers on Friday

Late Thursday night into Friday, a weak shortwave moving along the U.S.-Canada border could bring some light showers to parts of Upper Michigan, particularly in the west. However, rainfall is expected to be light, with amounts likely under a tenth of an inch. The rain will taper off by Friday afternoon, with temperatures once again reaching the mid to upper 70s.

    Warm, Dry Weekend Ahead

Following Friday's brief chance of showers, the weather pattern will shift to warmer conditions over the weekend. As mid-level ridging builds over the Great Lakes, temperatures will climb above normal, with highs potentially reaching 90°F on Sunday and Monday. The dry weather will persist into early next week, with the next potential for significant rain not expected until Monday or Tuesday.
