    Isolated Thunderstorms and Rainfall Expected in East Central Florida

    The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for east central Florida today. Residents and visitors across the region can expect isolated to scattered thunderstorms near the coast during the morning hours, with activity increasing into the afternoon and evening. These storms will be slow-moving, with hazards including frequent lightning strikes, wind gusts of up to 40 mph, and moderate to heavy rainfall in localized areas.

    Rip Current Risk at All East Central Florida Beaches

    Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution as there is a Moderate Risk of rip currents along the east central Florida coast today. The NWS recommends swimming near lifeguards and never swimming alone to minimize the risk of being caught in dangerous currents.

    Warm Temperatures and High Humidity Continue

    In addition to the storm threat, temperatures across east central Florida will remain high, with heat index values climbing between 102°F and 107°F through Sunday and into next week. This dangerous heat poses a risk for heat-related illnesses, especially for those spending extended periods outdoors. Residents and visitors should stay well-hydrated and take frequent breaks from the heat.

    Extended Forecast: Storms and Heat Persist Into Next Week

    Looking ahead to Sunday and Monday, the weather pattern is expected to remain active, with scattered to numerous thunderstorms continuing each afternoon. The main threats with these storms will include frequent lightning strikes, gusty winds, and locally heavy rainfall.

    The Moderate Risk of rip currents is also forecast to persist along the coast through the weekend, as onshore flow remains strong.
