    GAYLORDEastern Upper Michigan and Northern Lower Michigan residents face a week of variable and potentially hazardous weather, beginning with dense fog this morning and progressing into a heat wave and the potential for severe thunderstorms by midweek. The National Weather Service has issued a warning for residents to remain vigilant.

    Dense Fog Greets Upper Peninsula This Morning

    Early this morning, patches of dense fog developed over Eastern Upper Michigan, particularly affecting the area around the eastern upper peninsula. Although the fog is expected to clear quickly after sunrise, drivers should be cautious of reduced visibility in some areas.

    Dangerous Heat and Severe Storms on the Horizon

    Looking ahead, a combination of high temperatures and humidity could pose heat-related health risks for residents, particularly on Tuesday. The National Weather Service advises residents in Northern Lower Michigan and Eastern Upper Michigan to take precautions against the potentially dangerous conditions, including staying hydrated and limiting time outdoors during the hottest parts of the day.

    The threat doesn’t end with the heat. Thunderstorms are expected to move into the region starting Tuesday and lasting into Tuesday night, with a risk of some storms reaching severe levels. These storms could bring damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall, making it critical for residents to stay informed as conditions develop.

    Spotter Activation Possible

    In preparation for these storms, the National Weather Service may request spotter activation on Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night to monitor the severity of the storms.
