Heat Advisory for Ohio, Indiana, and Northern Kentucky

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Heat Advisory for large portions of east central and southeast Indiana, northern Kentucky, and central, southwest, and west central Ohio. The advisory is in effect from noon today until 8 PM EDT on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

    • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.

    • Avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
    • Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.
    • Check on neighbors and relatives, particularly the elderly and those without access to air conditioning.

If you must work outside, schedule breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas and watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Extended Outlook: Hot Conditions Through Friday

The extreme heat is expected to persist through Wednesday, with heat index values again reaching the upper 90s on Thursday and Friday. The NWS warns that additional heat advisories may be issued if conditions remain dangerous.
