    Hazardous Weather Outlook for Central Iowa

    The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for central Iowa, including areas such as Des Moines, Polk, Marshall, Warren, and Story counties.

    Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Today

    Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across central Iowa today and may persist into early Wednesday. While the overall risk of severe weather remains low, a few storms may produce strong to damaging wind gusts. Residents are encouraged to stay alert to rapidly changing weather conditions.

    More Widespread Storms Expected Thursday

    The next round of widespread showers and thunderstorms is expected to move through the region on Thursday into Thursday night. Although the severe weather risk remains low for this system, additional updates will be provided as the situation develops.

    Spotter activation may be needed today if storms develop with strong winds or other severe weather.
